Dr. Delaney holds a number of licenses: Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and Oregon; Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner in Nebraska; Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida; Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in Texas; and, Certified Counselor in Canada. Her current clinical work includes both individual and family therapy intervention focusing specifically on anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, parenting, and adjustment issues. Dr. Delaney has a special interest in patients with self-harm disorders as well as survivors of sex trafficking. She utilizes empirically based treatment methods: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy (EMDR), Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Theoretically, Dr Delaney can best be described as using an eclectic approach. She relies heavily on behaviorism, cognitive behaviorism, and family systems theory. Dr Delaney received both her Doctorate in Counseling Psychology and Master of Clinical Psychology from Texas Southern University, an Historically Black College (HBCU) in Houston, TX. Originally from Alberta, Canada, she also holds a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Dr. Delaney has worked with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of capacities. She began her career on the crisis response team for one of the largest school districts in the United States. This experience provided expertise in homicide and suicide risk assessments and crisis intervention, as well as working with students and parents experiencing significant psychological distress and trauma. She subsequently joined the counseling department of a Texas based university teaching hospital where her work focused on anxiety, depression and ADHD. Her work with substance/process abuse and co-occuring disorders has been largely composed of college athletes, college/high school students and survivors of sex trafficking. She began working virtually pre-pandemic and continues that today. In her free time, Dr. Delaney can be found at a CrossFit gym, running the bayou paths of Houston, or watching Texas A&M Football with her hound dog puppy, Brisket.
